Jamal Crawford was almost correct in his observations. Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals did come down to the performances of Paul Pierce and Dwyane Wade. After playing lackluster for much of the game, Wade stepped up in the fourth quarter to score 14 points – one more than he had through the first three quarters. He also had a ridiculous block on Brandon Bass’ dunk attempt, and was better overall in comparison to Pierce, who managed to score 19 points on 19 shots. At the end of the day, though, it was The Truth that had the last laugh after hitting an absolute dagger of a 3-pointer with 53 seconds remaining in the game to give the Celtics a four-point cushion. The play was eerily reminiscent of what James Harden did in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, and so were the results.
