Tweet of the Day goes to Bill Simmons, who saw Kobe Bryant go scoreless in the first half against Australia and hoped to achieve the highlight of his summer by witnessing Bryant go scoreless for the entire game.
Of course, no such thing happened. In fact, Bryant went into “Black Mamba” mode and scored 20 monster second-half points. As Tom Haberstroh of ESPN pointed out, Bryant has generally struggled thus far in the Olympics prior to Wednesday’s game against Australia, shooting just six-of-27 against teams that weren’t named Tunisia or Nigeria. It may have been the type of breakout performance that Bryant may have needed for a boost of confidence moving forward.
