Dirk Nowitzki Returns; Melo (33) Leads Knicks Comeback

LAC @ PHO: Wow. The Clippers have won 13 straight games, and their second unit could have beaten the Suns. Blake Griffin (23 PTS, 11 REB, 3 AST, 4 STL) and Chris Paul (17 PTS, 13 AST, 5 STL) stuck around long enough to hand over a huge lead, then Jamal Crawford (22) and Matt Barnes (15 PTS, 8 REB) kept the pressure on. Only Jared Dudley (19 PTS, 7 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL) had a respectable fantasy line for Phoenix in this rout.

POR @ SAC: Yesterday morning, I gave the shorthanded Kings a chance, even without Tyreke Evans (knee) and DeMarcus Cousins, whose third suspension of the young season was for insubordination, though they have all been for colossal, mind-boggling immaturity. I was bang-on with Marcus Thornton (22 PTS, 4 REB, 4 AST) but guessed wrong about Jason Thompson (10 PTS, 6 REB) to the detriment of my daily-league teams. Portland got 22 points and 11 rebounds from LaMarcus Aldridge in defeat, J.J. Hickson had another double-double (14 & 11) and Damian Lillard (15 PTS, 7 AST) was OK, but they missed Wesley Matthews (hip) and the Sacramento bench outscored the tired Blazers backups 43-26 to seal the deal.

DraftStreet Diary: A 26.73% Profit

Normally, this segment stands on its own, but with no NBA games this evening, you’re getting the abbreviated version. I started last Monday with $100 and finished with $126.73 after losing a few contests on Sunday. Altogether, I entered 54 teams counting our Freeroll (three each day in the $2 GPP) and won at least a small prize in 21 of them, finishing first eight times.

It was a good week that came very close to being great, as some of those 13 consolation prizes — like $5 for 11th place in the Freeroll — were very close to being much larger scores. We’ll resume tomorrow with a fresh $100 and my picks for the Christmas Day extravaganza. No matter what you celebrate (I’m partial to Festivus) a sincere “Happy Holidays” to you and your loved ones.
