Happy New Year, daily leaguers! There are six NBA games on the January 1 calendar, but only five are in play. All contests close at 7:30 pm EST, which means anyone from Dallas and Washington (a 6:00 start) is ineligible. The most interesting games feature the Lakers at home and the Clippers in Denver, where there could be quite a few points scored.
My picks last night were off the mark (22nd and 45th out of 220 were the best finishes) and I lost $19 from the $100 weekly bankroll. Tonight, I’m planning to take it easy with just a few $2 plays, waiting for the slate of 12 games on Wednesday to invest in some $5 Double-Up and Snake leagues in addition to the $2 GPP tournament, where I usually enter three different teams. It’s partly a hunch that there might be more wacky results — like the Bobcats winning in Chicago last night — as many of us (including some players) are somewhat sleep-deprived.

The daily chart offers five suggestions in three different price ranges. Imagining a fast-paced Lakers game, I was going to use Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard as my anchors, then decided to save money at C and hope that Jrue Holiday has a triple-double in what looks like a losing cause. For now, here’s the lineup:
F1 Anthony Davis (NO-F) $13,702
F2 Ryan Anderson (NO-F) $10,717
G1 Kobe Bryant (LAL-G) $19,957
G2 Jrue Holiday (PHI-G) $16,242
C1 Greg Monroe (DET-C) $12,915
C2 DeAndre Jordan (LAC-C) $9,815
U1 Isaiah Thomas (SAC-G) $8,889
U2 Jason Maxiell (DET-F) $7,569
