Carmelo Anthony goes into Friday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks trailing Kevin Durant for the NBA scoring lead by just two-tenths of a percentage point — 28.3 to 28.1.
Going for 50 and then 40 will do that for you, and Anthony has a chance to become the first player in three years not named Durant to capture the NBA scoring title.
Perhaps that is some added incentive for the two of them to go at each other a little harder Sunday afternoon when they meet in Oklahoma City, with the Knicks possibly riding an 11-game winning streak.
Even if the Knicks run the table and win the remainder of their regular season games, will that be enough to get Mike Woodson’s name thrown into consideration for Coach of the Year?
It’s already a crowded field, as discussed below (along with ‘Melo v Durant) in this video with CineSport’s Brian Clark:

For me, the answer is Byron Scott. Who else can manage to keep their job after accumulating a 62-160 record? He deserves a trophy just for managing that sleight of hand. In any other line of work, a guy would have been kicked on his keester to the curb three years ago.
