By now, most of you are probably aware of Rutgers University basketball head coach Mike Rice. He’s the guy that has been under a world of scrutiny after video footage was released of what he did to the players he coached:
Obviously, this kind of behavior is not condoned by most. It’s one thing to be greatly passionate about what you teach, but when you start physically abusing your players by kicking and throwing the ball at them, you’ve crossed the line. A one-time thing from loss of control? Perhaps excusable. With Rice, it was clearly habitual and a tactic – a terribly indecent one in this day and age. For his actions and all the negative attention he has brought to the school, Rice was terminated as coach of the team on Wednesday.
