France boasted a lineup of Tony Parker, Nicolas Batum, Boris Diaw, Alexis Ajinca and Mickael Gelabale. Spain also had plenty of familiar names like Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Jose Calderon, Rudy Fernandez and Victor Claver. Unfortunately for Spain, they were missing two key players in Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro.
Hoping for a chance to fight for the gold against Lithuania, the two teams were in a tight battle all the way into overtime action. In the end, France managed to upset the Spanish team 75-72. With no one in particular playing well for France – Batum managed just three points and three turnovers – Parker stepped up to score 32 points and was the only player to reach double figures for the team. Gasol had 19 points and nine rebounds, while Fernandez added 17 points.
Here are the reactions of some of the players after the contest:

Great work and effort by our team. It’s tough to lose in the overtime like this but we must recover and go after the bronze medal on Sunday!
