On Sunday, November 10, 2013, the NFL took control of the headlines with yet another week of high-stakes action. Quietly, the NBA put forth eight games that featured some of the most impressive performances of the early 2013-14 NBA regular season.
For everything you missed, here’s everything that you need to know.
1. Danny Green led the San Antonio Spurs to a 120-89 road victory over the New York Knicks by scoring a season-high 24 points with 10 rebounds, one block and one steal in 23 minutes. Green was 8-of-11 from the field, 6-of-9 from three-point range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
It was Green’s first career double-double.
2. Despite playing just 24 minutes and attempting four total field goals, Spurs power forward Tim Duncan picked up his first double-double of the 2013-14 season. Duncan finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block on 1-of-4 shooting from the field and 9-of-11 from the free throw line.
3. In one of the best games of we’ll see all year, the Oklahoma City Thunder outlasted the Washington Wizards for a 106-105 overtime victory. Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 34 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and one block, while Bradley Beal finished with a career-high 33 points, six rebounds and a steal on 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
Beal had never previously topped 30 points, but tallied 29 in his previous outing.
4. Young teams with bright futures clashed as the Phoenix Suns defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 101-94. Eric Bledsoe scored a game-high 24 points, Markieff Morris tallied 23 off of the bench and center Miles Plumlee picked up eight points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for the Suns.
For the Pelicans, Jason Smith scored a team-high 22 points, while Anthony Davis dropped 14 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, four steals and a block. Anthony Morrow and Jrue Holiday both scored 16 points, with the latter adding seven assists.
Phoenix is now 5-2 and 4-0 at home. New Orleans is 3-4.
5. The Minnesota Timberwolves put on an offensive clinic with a 113-90 road victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Kevin Martin scored 27 points, Kevin Love added 25 and 13 rebounds, Corey Brewer finished with 17 points and Nikola Pekovic scored 14 with 10 boards.
The star of the game was point guard Ricky Rubio, who picked up his second career triple-double with 12 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds and five steals in 38 minutes.
Bonus Fact: The Timberwolves’ 113-90 victory snapped a 22-game losing streak to the Lakers.
