If you break up Chris Andersen’s nickname into two words, you have the operative sentence for Game 2: Free Bird.
The Birdman played 19 minutes in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and his stat line was nothing to write home about. And that’s OK. What is not OK as far as the Miami Heat are concerned were the stat lines for Tim Duncan (9-for-10 from the field) and Tiago Splitter (5-for-6), not to mention Boris Diaw (10 rebounds, six assists and a plus-30 in the plus-minus department),.
The Heat cannot win their third straight title if those three are going to be that effective, and whether it is Andersen or Udonis Haslem, there is a need for some size, strength and defense along the Miami front line.
Will we see that in Game 2?
That was one of the issues I discussed, along with air conditioning, and Powerade vs. Gatorade, in this interview with Dave Logan and Dave Krieger on KOA in Denver.
