DraftKings Advice: I Like Rudy Gay; Win $50,000 Free

February 1, 2016 by Kent Williams

KentTonight there’s $400,000 in guaranteed cash prizes going to more than 30,000 winners of a massive fantasy contest at DraftKings. It’s free to enter for new users, only $3 for the rest of us.

DeMarcus Cousins $11100 (ankle) is questionable, and if the highest-priced player on the board can’t go, the daily landscape changes as other Kings step up. Rajon Rondo $8400 becomes even more of a triple-double threat, Rudy Gay $6800 provides possibly the best value and Willie Cauley-Stein $5200 might get 30 minutes. Darren Collison $4400 is the best play off the bench. The Bucks have an affordable trio — Greg Monroe $7000, Khris Middleton $7100 and Giannis Antetokounmpo $7300 — in a potentially high-scoring game.

Free $400,000 Contest For New Users

The $400K Tipoff Special is only a $3 buy-in (FREE with your initial deposit at DK) where the top 31,990 finishers (from up to 153,333 teams) win cash. First place earns $50,000. Deadline is 7:00 EST; enter before it fills. Lineups can be adjusted until each player’s game begins.

lineup-2-1Russell Westbrook $11000 and Kevin Durant $10400 are the others with 5-digit salaries. The Wizards came to life on Saturday with 123 points in a road win; John Wall $9400 and Marcin Gortat $6900 will again be prominent. Otto Porter $6000 (hip) is not 100%, so Jared Dudley $4700 and Nene Hilario $4700 are both playable no matter who starts. Bradley Beal $6200 might get hot in a wide-open affair. For OKC, in addition to the superstars, consider Enes Kanter $5100, Steven Adams $4300, Dion Waiters $4400 and D.J. Augustin $3000.

Cleveland at Indiana will be a treat to watch. LeBron James $9700 vs. Paul George $8700 is the marquee matchup, Kevin Love $7300 goes up against red-hot rookie Myles Turner $5800 and Kyrie Irving $6600 is not a bad price vs. George Hill $5200.

Anthony Davis $9800 might earn his cost and more, as Tyreke Evans $7200 (knee) is questionable. Jrue Holiday $7400, Ryan Anderson $6900 and Norris Cole $5700 have been sharp lately and Bryce Dejean-Jones $3900 has looked good in two starts. If Marc Gasol $7700 (knee) can’t play, Memphis has to go small, with Zach Randolph $5800 playing more and a good chance for Jeff Green $5300 to extend his hot streak.

The Raptors hit the road looking for a 12th straight win. All-Stars Kyle Lowry $8700 and DeMar DeRozan $8700 have a big edge on Emmanual Mudiay $5500 and Gary Harris $4600 but Danilo Gallinari $7100 and Kenneth Faried $5900 might keep the Nuggets close. Toronto’s third guard Cory Joseph $3900 is on a four-game roll as the small lineup has been effective.

Off a 27-point loss yesterday, the Bulls try to regroup in Utah. It won’t be shocking if Jimmy Butler $8800 and Pau Gasol $8800 play well, but there will be easier spots. The Jazz are inexpensive if you like their chances; Rudy Gobert $6700 is much better alongside Derrick Favors $6600.

My sample lineup will be turned upside down if Cousins plays, but for now I’m keying on two of his teammates. SG looks like the best position to punt and I’m hoping a balanced lineup of second- and third-choice producers can outperform a stars-and-scrubs approach.

Pos Premium Midrange Bargain

PF Anthony Davis $9800 Kevin Love $7300 Nene Hilario $4700
C Greg Monroe $7000 Marcin Gortat $6900 Enes Kanter $5100
