SH Blog: Jazz hire Snyder; can Flip persuade Love to stay?

Flip Saunders

All anyone wants to talk about in the NBA today is LeBron and the air conditioning in San Antonio. Speculate, theorize, whatever you want about whether how suspicious the timing of the malfunction was and what might have happened had LeBron played at the end of the game, but no matter what, mocking an injury, even one as temporary (and thus perceived to be non-serious) as cramps, is not what’s known as “taking the high road.” There’s no reason Spurs

SH Blog: Joerger staying with Grizzlies; Lakers interested in Hollins

MEM_Joerger_Dave

Over the last couple days, it looked like the Grizzlies were this year’s Nuggets: a playoff team undergoing massive front office shakeup and losing their well-regarded coach. Today, they’re still down a couple executives (though by many accounts, not Masai Ujiri-caliber), but in an unexpected move, it looks like coach Dave Joerger is sticking around. How unexpected? Well, let’s look at a couple pieces that came out earlier today. First, from Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune: Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor interviewed Dave Joerger

SH Blog: Joerger possibly leaving Grizzlies for Minnesota; did Dick Parsons really play college hoops?

MEM_Joerger_Dave

Scandal, scandal everywhere. If it’s not Donald Sterling, it’s Mark Jackson feuding with the Warriors’ front office. Or maybe it’s the Grizzlies’ management structure suddenly collapsing. It seems everywhere you turn, you get smacked with another piece of dirty laundry. And if you just want to watch the games? Get ready for controversy after controversy over flops, out-of-bounds calls, arguments between teammates. Anything people can complain about, they will. With all that – combined with louder than usual cries of fixing at

Source: Only a 25 percent chance Kevin Love stays in Minnesota

Kevin Love

There is a 75 percent chance that Kevin Love leaves the Minnesota Timberwolves, sooner OR later. That is what NBA teams are hearing as they try to determine whether Love is now obtainable, a league source tells SheridanHoops.com. And chances are it will happen either through a trade before next February, or through Love’s unrestricted free agency in July 2015. Wolves president Flip Saunders is operating under the assumption that he has a good chance to keep Love by offering a four-year

NBA Owners Respond to Sterling’s Unprecedented Punishment

With much of the national discourse centering on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, the reality of the matter is that a lifetime ban and a $2.5 million fine is the limit to what NBA commissioner Adam Silver is capable of doing. The rest falls on the shoulders of 29 team owners, as they—according to the NBA’s Constitution and By-Laws—must vote with a 3/4′s majority to force the sale of the team. Players, media pundits and people all across the nation

Chris-Wilcox-psd88625

As was alluded to in last night’s blog, tragedy struck Houston Rockets head coach Kevin McHale and his family over the weekend. The news came two weeks after he took a leave of absence from the Rockets bench citing “personal reasons.” His daughter, Alexandra “Sasha” McHale, passed away at the early age of 23 from lupus.Chris Wilcox, a backup power forward for the Boston Celtics sent his condolences via Twitter on Tuesday.

My heart goes out to Kevin McHale and his family. Losing someone close from Lupus is a tragedy. #CruelMystery http://t.co/MlCLPWLC

Forbes: 12 NBA owners among 400 richest Americans (Prokhorov not included)

Paull_Allen_fix_1

Pity poor Paul Allen. He only came in at No. 20 on the Forbes list of the 400 Richest Americans. But at least he’ll have something to hold over the heads of the other owners when they convene next month for the Board of Governors meeting in New York (then again, Allen– worth 15 billion– may not attend. He usually sends someone in his place). The only owner who can flex muscles with him is Mikhail Prokhorov of the Brooklyn Nets, with $13.2

// Louis Amundson, Jeff Pendergraph, Gana Diop, Bismack Biyombo, Dexter Pittman, Ed Davis, Gary Forbes, Robin Lopez, Sam Young, Luke Babbitt. No, it’s not another edition of The Bernucca List, because we’re going to give you the answer right away. That’s Carmelo Anthony, fourth in the NBA in scoring at
