NBA commissioner Adam Silver cannot just suspend Clippers owner Donald Sterling for the rest of the playoffs. Silver cannot just suspend Sterling for a year and drop a seven-figure fine on him the way his predecessor did to Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor in 2000. Taylor broke the rules. Union chief Billy Hunter placed on indefinite leave

NBA Players Association executive director Billy Hunter has been placed on indefinite leave, the first step in removing the embattled union chief from his position. The news comes from both Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports and the NBC Sports Network. Hunter has been temporarily replaced by union general counsel Ron Klempner.
