Formerly known as Ron Artest, Metta is somewhat known for wanting to carry the tradition of the older generation by playing a physical style that is generally frowned upon in today’s game – at least by the league. In that sense, you can sort of understand where he’s coming from. Maybe that’s how things were done back in the day, as evidenced by what Phil Jackson had to say about the situation on Tuesday:
Perhaps the older generation feels this used to be an acceptable way of treating your players as a head coach. It might even have been expected by some. In this generation, though? Especially if you get caught doing it on camera? Sorry. Not gonna fly.
