VIDEO: Anthony Davis is a very real MVP candidate if …

January 27, 2015 by Chris Sheridan

If you have missed the New Orleans Pelicans playing the past two nights, you have missed seeing some of Anthony Davis at his best. On Sunday night, he stole Rajon Rondo’s last inbounds pass (Note to Rajon: Don’t try to lob the ball over this guy) and was fouled, making both from the stripe to give New Orleans a three-point lead. After the game, he leapt into the embrace of a random fan. On Monday night, on the way to a

PODCAST: Explaining my Second Team All-NBA vote for LeBron James

June 4, 2014 by Chris Sheridan

I am taking a lot of flack on social media today after I was the only voter to place LeBron James on his Second Team All-NBA ballot, and that’s OK. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. We have been over this before, since I cast my ballot in mid-April, wrote about it and went on the air with CineSport to explain my reasoning. In a nutshell, this is it: There were only two forward spots on the All-NBA ballot. I gave them to the players

VIDEO: Here is why Sheridan Voted LeBron James 2nd Team All-NBA

June 4, 2014 by Chris Sheridan

(Readers: This post originally ran April 18, shortly after I cast my NBA award ballot. It is relevant today because I was the only voter to put LeBron James on the Second Team, behind Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin.-CS) Wow, you sure can catch a lot of grief when you tell folks you voted LeBron James to 2nd Team All-NBA. I put that word out on Twitter at midweek, and I have been fending off venom ever since. Hey folks: Here’s the

James, Parker Make All-NBA Teams; Bernucca Goes 15-for-15

June 4, 2014 by Chris Bernucca

When the NBA Finals tip off Thursday night, each team will have one member of the All-NBA Teams announced Wednesday. The Miami Heat will have forward LeBron James, who was joined on the All-NBA First Team by forward Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City, center Joakim Noah and guards James Harden of Houston and Chris Paul of the LA Clippers. Durant, the NBA MVP, was the lone unanimous choice with 125 votes. James came up one vote shy. The San Antonio Spurs will

NBA Players React to All-Defensive Teams

June 2, 2014 by Michael Brumagin

2014 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah led all vote getters for the NBA All-Defensive First Team. The NBA released the 2014 All-Defensive teams Monday afternoon. Leading the charge was the 2014 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year and Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah, who led all vote getters. He was the only player to get triple-digit votes for the First Team, tallying 105 such votes as well as another 13 Second Team votes

LeBron-Leonard Finals Matchup is All-Defensive Team Affair

June 2, 2014 by Chris Bernucca

LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard figure to be seeing a lot of each other over the next two weeks.  That will be the small forward matchup in the NBA Finals. Just like last year, it should be a good one, because both players were named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team on Monday. Neither the Miami Heat nor the San Antonio Spurs have anyone on the All-Defensive First Team, which was voted on by the media and has Defensive Player of the

More Than Half of 2013 Lottery Picks Fail to Make All-Rookie Teams

May 22, 2014 by Chris Bernucca

Washington Wizards

With the NBA still buzzing from Tuesday’s draft lottery and the anticipation of next month’s loaded draft, it is only fitting that we offer good riddance to one of the worst draft classes in recent memory. Among the 14 lottery picks of the 2013 draft, a staggering eight did not make the NBA All-Rookie Teams announced Thursday. They were top pick Anthony Bennett, No. 3 Otto Porter, No. 5 Alex Len, No. 6 Nerlens Noel, No. 7 Ben McLemore, No. 8

Not surprisingly, Jamal Crawford wins Sixth Man award

May 8, 2014 by Chris Sheridan

One of the consequences of the Donald Sterling scandal was that it delayed the official announcement of the Sixth Man Award winner. As the racism controversy was at its peak, the NBA postponed plans to present the award to Jamal Crawford, but news of the delay was reported far and wide. Today, there is enough calm in El Lay to finally make things official. Congratulations, J.Crossover. [Read more…]
